Accident Towing & Recovery Edmonton

Maverick Towing & Recovery provides accident towing in Edmonton 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We tow and recover light-duty vehicles after a collision. We also offer direct insurance billing on eligible claims. Call 825-888-5533 for a tow truck after an accident.

When you call, tell us where the car is, what it is and how badly it is damaged. We will tell you how we plan to move it and what it will cost before you book.

Edmonton Collision Towing

Maverick provides collision towing in Edmonton for vehicles that need to be moved off the road, the shoulder, a parking lot or any other spot a truck can reach after a crash. Before we send a truck, we ask about the car and the scene so we know whether to tow it right away or recover it first.

  1. Call or text 825-888-5533.
  2. Give us the year, make and model, and say whether the car rolls and steers.
  3. Tell us where the car is. An address, an intersection or a landmark is enough.
  4. Tell us where the car should go.
  5. We confirm availability and the price. Once you book, we send an accident tow truck to you.

Car Accident Towing for Damaged Vehicles

Car accident towing moves a vehicle that has been damaged in a collision. A crashed car is harder to move than one that simply broke down. The steering, suspension, wheels or bodywork may be damaged, the car may not roll or steer, or it may be boxed in or off the road.

Maverick provides light-duty car accident towing and recovery across Edmonton. If you can't tell whether the car rolls or steers, say so on the phone, and our team will explain the next steps.

Details to Have Ready When You Call

An accident tow is quicker to arrange when you know the car's location, its year, make and model, and whether it rolls and steers. If you can, also tell us:

  • any damage you can see to the wheels or suspension
  • whether the car is in a ditch, snow, soft ground or a tight spot
  • where you want it taken

What to Do After a Car Accident in Edmonton

After a car accident in Edmonton, deal with safety first and call 911 if anyone is hurt or the scene is dangerous. Once everyone is safe, take these steps:

  1. Swap names, phone numbers, licence and plate numbers, and insurance details with the other driver. Take photos of both cars and the scene.
  2. If the combined damage is $5,000 or more, report the crash at an Edmonton Collision Reporting Centre. Not reporting it can cost you a $405 fine. You can start the report online through the Edmonton Police Service.
  3. Call your insurance company and open a claim.
  4. If the car can't be driven, call 825-888-5533 for collision towing in Edmonton. We answer 24/7.

The Collision Reporting Centres are run with the Edmonton Police Service. Maverick is a towing company, not a reporting centre. Our guide on what to do after a car accident in Edmonton goes through each step.

Who Pays for Towing After an Accident in Alberta?

In Alberta, towing after a car accident is usually paid through your own insurance claim. If the crash was not your fault, the claim goes through Direct Compensation for Property Damage (DCPD). If it was your fault, your collision coverage usually pays, minus your deductible.

DCPD started in Alberta on January 1, 2022. A driver who is not at fault now claims vehicle damage from their own insurer, not the other driver's (Government of Alberta). If you caused the crash and don't have collision coverage, you will usually pay for the tow yourself.

Every policy is different, so check yours with your insurer. Our article on who pays for towing after an accident also covers storage fees.

How Direct Insurance Billing Works for Accident Towing

Maverick Towing & Recovery offers direct insurance billing, so we can bill your insurer for eligible accident towing and recovery claims. Approval depends on your policy and your insurer. To get your towing billed to insurance:

  1. Give us your insurer's name, your claim number if you have one, and your adjuster's contact details.
  2. Ask your insurer which charges they will cover and whether you will still owe a deductible or any other amount.
  3. Before the tow, we go over the charges and how billing will work.

Can You Choose Your Own Tow Truck After an Accident?

Yes, in Alberta you can choose your own tow truck after an accident and decide where your car goes, unless police direct the tow (Government of Alberta). You can also turn away any tow truck you did not call (AMA).

Police may pick the tow company if a car is blocking traffic or is a hazard, if it is being seized, or if the driver can't arrange a tow, for example because of an injury.

Since August 8, 2025, tow trucks have not been allowed to stop within 200 metres of a crash unless police, emergency crews or the driver asked for one (AMA Insider). If a truck shows up that nobody called, you can say no.

To book Maverick, call us directly at 825-888-5533. You can read more about your towing rights in Alberta.

Where Can Your Car Be Towed After an Accident?

After an accident in Edmonton, your car can be towed to a repair shop or body shop, your home, a dealership, a storage location or any other place you choose.

In Alberta, you can use the body shop you prefer, even if your insurer suggests a different one (Government of Alberta). For trips outside the city, we also offer local and long-distance towing. See our guide on where to take your car after a crash to compare the options.

Vehicle Recovery After an Accident

Vehicle recovery after an accident means getting a car out of a ditch, deep snow, mud, soft ground or another hard-to-reach spot so it can be towed. A tow truck can't hook up to a car in these places until it is back on a safe surface.

Don't try to pull the car out yourself. Stay away from traffic and call us with the car's position and what the ground is like. See our vehicle recovery page for winch-outs and winter recovery.

Accident Towing Across Edmonton

Maverick provides accident towing in Edmonton in North, South, West and central Edmonton, and on the major roads that run through the city. For areas just outside Edmonton, call us to check coverage, or contact our team.
